Climate Migration Project
The Urban Institute project explores three Gulf sites where climate migrants have relocated, are relocating, or will relocate: New Orleanians displaced by Hurricane Katrina in Houston; Puerto Rican victims of Hurricane Maria in Orlando; and Louisiana’s Isle de Jean Charles residents and their pending resettlement north. The Bullard Center focuses on the New Orleanians displaced by Hurricane Katrina in Houston and Houston’s capacity to serve migrants before, during, and after migration in the areas of housing, financial services, employment and economic development; as well as, access to healthcare and social, cultural, and recreational facilities.
