Four South Bronx apartment buildings joining community solar, saving residents money on electric bills

A new partnership between Nuveen and Perch Energy will allow residents of four South Bronx Section 8 apartment buildings to save up to 20% on their electricity bills by connecting to a nearby solar farm. The buildings, owned by Nuveen, include Southern Boulevard Apartments, Maria Lopez Plaza, Longwood Residence Apartments, and Hunts Point Apartments. Through Perch Energy, residents can sign up to connect their Con Edison accounts to the solar farm at the Bronx Logistics Center. This initiative is part of a broader effort to make solar energy accessible to low- and moderate-income New Yorkers, reducing energy burdens for over one-third of Bronxites who spend more than 6% of their income on energy needs.
