Liquefied Natural Gas Pollution Linked to 60 Premature US Deaths a Year – Report

A new report from Greenpeace and Sierra Club reveals that air pollution from liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals in the U.S. is responsible for approximately 60 premature deaths and $957 million in health costs annually. If all planned LNG projects are completed, these figures could rise to 149 deaths and $2.33 billion in costs per year. The study also highlights that these impacts disproportionately affect Black and Latino communities living near LNG facilities. Environmental advocates urge federal regulators to consider these health impacts and halt further LNG approvals to prevent additional harm.
