Assistant Director of Communications

The Assistant Director of Communications will lead communications for the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice. This role manages both internal and external communications across institutional, community, and grant or corporate partnerships, and advocacy campaigns. The Assistant Director of Communications is a key member of the Center’s communications team, as part of a broader strategy to inspire and motivate target audiences, and one who fosters and promotes sustainable and responsible environmental practices and behavior.

The Assistant Director of Communications is a highly collaborative, self-motivated, creative person that is adaptable to new processes with capacity to function independently. The Assistant Director of Communications is also knowledgeable of environmental and climate justice issues and the issues directly impacting the communities in which the Center serves.

This is a Grant Funded position.


Duties:
  • Lead development of communications strategies that position the Bullard Center as a leader in environmental and climate justice
  • Work directly with internal and external stakeholders, to help inform and shape initiatives, and serve as a well-versed and knowledgeable strategic advisor for all external communications.
  • Serve as in-house communications liaison and maintain a working knowledge of the Bullard Center’s position on related and current issues
  • Responsible for managing the Bullard Center’s thought leadership in areas through various communications strategies including the development of editorial content and social media, as well as communications content and materials for technically-related events.
  • Lead communications strategies for joint programmatic work with partner organizations
