Alba Sereno, MSSW
Alba Sereno (She/Her/Ella) is a macro social worker and economist. Her 20+ career has been focused on assisting marginalized communities in building power and winning tangible results, via a praxis of antiracism, liberation, social justice, and radical abundance. She has most recently served as the inaugural Chief Research & Strategic Initiatives Officer and the inaugural Chief Resilience Officer for the City of Austin. Sereno has taught at the University of Houston, the University of Texas at Austin, and St. Edward's University and has facilitated anti-racism training in the community since the early 2000s.
She earned a Master of Science in Macro Social Work and a certificate in Nonprofit Management from the University of Texas at Austin as well as a BSFA in Economics, a BBA in Finance, and a BA in Spanish Language and Literature along with a certificate in Diversity Education and a Minor in Anthropology from Southern Methodist University. She is a 5th generation transnational Texan-Mexican. She enjoys spending time in the natural world, learning about her ancestors and cultivating her creative practice as an artesana.
