CEEJH 11th Annual Environmental Justice & Health Disparities Symposium

The Center for Engagement, Environmental Justice and Health (CEEJH), a national leader in confronting environmental injustices and health inequities,  will host its 11th Annual Environmental Justice and Health Symposium, September 11-13, 2025 in Baltimore, Maryland. This year, Dr. Robert D. Bullard, founder of the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University, will deliver the closing keynote address. For decades, Dr. Bullard has exposed how race and place determine who bears the burden of pollution and health risks. At this year’s symposium, he will speak on today’s challenges and the fight for equity in environmental justice.

The theme of this year’s event is “The People’s Agenda: Resistance, Resilience and Restoration”. Organizers say the goal is to bring together community leaders, experts and activists dedicated to advancing environmental justice while addressing health disparities. Attendees will have a chance to experience panel discussions, interactive workshops to foster advocacy skills, hands-on tours in areas facing pollution and policy burdens, as well as networking opportunities with a diverse group of leaders committed to driving progress and innovation in environmental justice.

Additional speakers for the symposium include Elizabeth Yeampierre, Executive Director of UPROSE, William J. Barber, III, Senior Director of Impact at Coalition for Green Capital, Jalonne L. White-Newsome, CEO and Founder of Empowering a Green Environment and Economy, and Wanjiku “Wawa” Gatheru, Founder of Black Girl Environmentalist.
