Sarmistha Majumdar, Ph.D.

Sarmistha R. Majumdar, Ph.D., is a professor and interim department chairperson of the Department of Political Science at Texas Southern University. She has a doctoral degree in Public Administration from the School of Public Affairs and Administration, Rutgers University, New Jersey and specializes in policy analysis and program evaluation. Her research focus is on policies related to transportation, environment, energy and public involvement in decision making and has received grant funding for research from the local, state and federal government. Recently, she published a book titled, The Politics of Fracking: Regulatory Policy and Local Community Responses to Environmental Concerns (2019). Her other publications have appeared in various peer reviewed journals, edited books, newsletters, and conference proceedings.
