Steven Washington, MUPEP
Steven Washington, MUPEP is the Community Engagement Assistant Director, in The Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice at Texas Southern University. He is responsible for directing, managing, and supervising the community outreach programs related to the center. Steven obtained his Master’s in Urban Planning and Environmental Policy from Texas Southern University in 2015. Before joining the Bullard Center, Mr. Washington worked as an Urban Planning Specialist with Texas Sea Grant at Texas A&M University, where he provided technical assistance for planning aimed at coastal communities with Texas Target Communities (TTC), the Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center (HRRC) and the Institute for Sustainable Communities housed in the Department of Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning. Most recently as a Transit Planner with the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County (METRO), his work focused on identifying transit service needs and issues, long-range capital planning, emergency evacuation and preparedness, as well as, conducting Title VI/Environmental Justice analyses.
