Here Are the Places Most at Risk From Record-Shattering Heat

Summary

A new study by researchers in Britain takes a unique approach to identifying which places are most at risk of dangerous hot weather caused by global warming. The researchers focused on the extent to which societies have experienced extreme heatwaves before, concluding that those that have not experienced them before will be less prepared for them. According to the study, areas at particular risk include economically developed places like Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg, as well as developing countries like Afghanistan, Guatemala, Honduras, and Papua New Guinea, that are more likely to lack resources to keep people safe.
