Purpose
Promote/Create E-Mobility Education and Awareness through our Bullard Center Student Led Organization Environmental Conservation Organization (ECO) and Environmental Justice Climate Corp Ambassadors (EJCC).
Goal
Reduce Air Pollution and Enhance Transportation to Reduce Economic Isolation and Mitigate Climate Change
In January of 2024, the Bullard Center for Environmental and Climate Justice received an initial $15,000 grant from the e-Mobility Microgrant Initiative, funded by Evolve Houston, spearheaded by Dr. Stephen Pinkney. The Bullard Center's student-led Environmental Conservation Organization, along with the Bullard Center Environmental Justice Climate Corp Ambassadors, has the purpose of educating and training the Texas Southern University campus community on electronic bikes to create awareness of e-mobility and to address economic isolation, reduce air pollution, and our carbon footprint to help mitigate climate change.
This initiative informs the Third Ward community, low-income, and minorities about e-mobility transportation options. Transportation is essential for accessing basic needs like education, jobs, food, and healthcare services. E-mobility grants help build resilience and create equal opportunity. The electronic bike and scooter alternative presents community-driven mobility solutions and offers more equitable, cleaner transportation. Furthermore, e-mobility grants focus on electric vehicle infrastructure while reducing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation sources and expanding economic opportunities for workforce development.
